BID hearing finally happening tonight

After months of delays and setbacks, the official public hearing regarding the proposed downtown Business Improvement District will be held at City Hall tonight at 7 p.m.

Residents will be able to come and share there views on why they believe there should or should not be a BID in the city of Troy.

Once the meeting is held, a 30-day public comment period will begin where residents can submit their formal opposition to the BID's creation to the City Clerk's office.

If more than 50 percent of proposed district members oppose the BID, it cannot be created. However, not voting counts in favor of establishing the district.

You're right. Let's continue to be a second class city with a crappy looking downtown. Save the Proctors
Save the Freihofer building, rebuild Uncle Sams home.
Get a grip and come to terms with the fact that things change.

A NO vote is a vote for the BID? Reminds me of being guilty until found innocent. Who's idea was this? New taxes just to create a job for a politically connected person. Why not use the existing tax base to keep the downtown clean and let the property owners pay for enhancing their own property individually. Most of the collected extra tax is for administrative costs. Can you day BULL SHYT?
